O Batcave foi um bar nocturno londrino, considerado o berço da subcultura gótica inglesa, sendo um dos mais famosos locais de encontro para os primeiros góticos do país. O termo Batcave é também usado pelos europeus para se referirem à música gótica com um som proeminente pós punk e com atmosferas assustadoras. O pub foi inanugurado em 1982, e por ele passaram nomes famosos do pós punk da época como Robert Smith, Siouxsie Sioux, Steve Severin, Foetus, Marc Almond, Vinnie Jones e Nick Cave. Ollie Wisdom, o vocalista da banda da casa, a Specimen, dirigia o pub juntamente com Hugh Jones.
O Batcave não só foi um marco para a musicalidade da subcultura gótica, mas também, a estética da subcultura mudou muito depois da proeminência do mesmo. Vide o estilo catártico, uma espécie de vampiro moderno de Ollie Wisdom.
